Why is the female erotic love story Fifty Shades of Grey flying off the shelves, smashing records left and right?
As the picture we took above shows, Costco stocks this book by the truckload knowing it’s going to sell. If it was such a vile book, a book worthy of its overall average 3 stars out of 5 on Amazon.com (view here), it would not have over 500 copies in stock at a single Dallas, Texas Costco location.
It’s a very descriptive book for women, detailing hot sex and mild S&M (dominant man; submissive woman) that drives women crazy. It’s so compulsively addicting that one woman we know read the entire 3-book trilogy in four days.
It’s addictive for these primary reasons:
-It’s most women’s secret fantasy– a billionaire, attractive, hot, sexually adventurous, funny man
-He needs her. All women thrive on the men they love needing– not wanting– them
-He’s a strong, protective man who ends up changing from a cold, broken man to a kindhearted, loyal husband
-He’s a very dominant man– sexually, verbally, and emotionally
Here are a few quotes that millions and millions of women are salivating over. What does this tell men about women’s internal desires?
“My breathing increases and my heart is racing. His growing erection presses against my behind. It’s such a turn-on knowing that it’s my body making him feel this way”
“I tilt my head back, my eyes rolling to the back of my head, my mouth slack, and I groan. The pressure is building slowly, inexorably inside me… oh my.”
“(Christian speaking:) I have rules, and I want you to comply with them. They are for your benefit and my pleasure.”
“It’s so big and growing. His erection is above the water line, the water lapping at his hips.”
“That was inside of me! It doesn’t seem possible.”
“Despite the caning, I want him”
“F**k my mouth…”
“I suck harder, flicking my tongue across the head of his impressive erection.”
The main female character, Ana, even signs a contract with the male, Christian, which includes the following item:
“The Submissive accepts the Dominant as her master, with the understanding that she is now the property of the Dominant, to be deal with as the Dominant pleases.”
And it gets even kinkier. Check out this scene of complete male domination:
“If you struggle, I’ll tie your feet too. If you make a noise, Anastasia, I will gag you. Keep quiet.”
The sex in the book is far from routine. In fact, Christian trains her in the use of butt plugs, and anal sex happens frequently. She agrees to it all except for the whips and genital clamps he wants to use on her.
We’ll be exploring this book in further posts because it has some extremely valuable insight into what turns women on.
Can you call Fifty Shades of Grey “Porn for Women?”
